Brad West – Executive Director
Hi My Name is Brad. I was Born in Regina, SK and grew up in Morinville, AB. I have been married to my college sweetheart, Brenda, for 23 years. We have 3 children – Andrea, Gabe and Justin. We have 2 adorable grand daughters, Olivia and Maddi. We also have two special boys that we are honorary grandparents to, Holdyn and Nathan. We have 3 dogs, a Bassett Hound/Terrier cross named Rudy, a Pomeranian named Jake and a Pug named Charlie. I started in the field at a non-profit Daycare in Regina 34 years ago when I was 18. And have been Executive Director with Glengarry since 2001. I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with young children. Planning to become a Teacher, I got my first job in childcare in 1984 and I was hooked. I knew shortly after starting that I wanted to work in a non-profit centre and be in a Director position. I’ve worked in all positions and with all age groups and now I do what I love best, ensuring that children are provided with a safe and nurturing environment to spend their days. I am passionate about staff training and making sure that Early Childhood Educators have all the skills they need to effectively do their job. In the past few years, I have begun working with parents by facilitating the Positive Discipline Parenting Program. Seeing parents become stronger and more confident is an amazing thing! Children’s curiosity never ceases to amaze me, I love watching them explore their environment and learn new things everyday. The children of Glengarry make me smile and make my days brighter!

Lisa Iwaskow – Room Lead
I’m Lisa! I was born and raised right here in Edmonton, Alberta. While Edmonton will always be my home, my adventurous spirit draws me to unfamiliar places and faces around the world for brief periods of time. Everywhere I go fills me with a child like wonder, but nothing compares to being surrounded by my family and friends. I like to believe that I’ve been blessed with multiple variants of families. I have a home family, a friend family, a work family, and a travel family. I have one older sister, multiple close friends who have stood by me for over a decade, colleagues who have watched me grow over the past six years in my career, and perfect strangers from all corners of the world who I’ve fused quick bonds with that will last a lifetime. Most importantly I have two incredibly supportive parents, who thanks to their patience, understanding, and generosity have helped in guiding me on this journey of what so far has been an abundantly fulfilling life. Growing up I wanted to be a teacher. Any chance I had to mentor younger children through my school years, I eagerly jumped at. Being a part of other people’s journeys, helping with their goals, reaching their milestones, and celebrating their accomplishments lit a fire in me like nothing else. It was no surprise that when the time came to decide on post secondary education, I went for a program that geared toward teaching young children. In the spring of 2012, I became an ELCC graduate from Grant MacEwan. While I was a student at Grant MacEwan, one of my first practicums was at Glengarry Childcare Society. They hired me as a student worker in the summer of 2011. Upon completion of my diploma, I was rehired as full time staff. Over the course of my six years employed with Glengarry, I have worked along side most of the staff you see here today, in each room respectively. In the spring of 2016, I resigned briefly for 5 months to embark on a trip to New Zealand. This is where I discovered my passion for travel and new experiences, but also, like Dorothy in the wizard of Oz said, “there’s no place like home”.
My name is Mona Elgammal. I was born and raised in Egypt. I am married, and I have 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl. I have a bachelor degree in biology and chemistry . In addition, I have a diploma in toxicology and forensic chemistry. I worked as a medical laboratory technologist in my homeland. I am working in the field of Early Childhood since I got my Child Development Assistant Certificate in September 2017. I am working with GCCS on 11 december 2017. I decided to work in the field of Early Childhood , because I have a passion for engaging and interacting with children since I delivered my three lovely kids. I believe in the early years are the most important time in a child’s development . Every child has an individual and different way of learning , and the learning happens throughout the day and through different interactions. I am excited to be a part of GCCS , and I am looking forward a wonderful year for me with all the staff , parents and guardians.

Hi My name is Lael and I was born in New Westminster BC and raised in Port Moody BC. I have been with my husband for 25 years and we have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I’ve worked my whole professional life and have always had an interest in facilitating their learning even as a child. Professionally and officially I have been an ECE for 3.5 years. I have worked at Glengarry for those same 3.5 years! I am inspired by children for a number of reasons. Their joy and exuberance is contagious. They are honest and generally live in the world as their most authentic selves. They are teachers too, all on their own. They never, ever cease to amaze me from one day to the next with their capacity to love, to understand, to learn, to laugh and to follow their hearts and curiosities. I go home every day feeling well loved. Nothing beats that!
Hi my name is Tara. I was born in Medicine Hat, AB. However I was raised in the beautiful woodsy, Fort McMurray,AB. I have 2 amazing and beautiful daughters and 1 intelligent, charismatic, loving, energetic grandson of 18 months! My 22-year-old, Kirstin will be taking medical terminology starting in February 2018. My 14-year-old, Kira is currently in grade 9 and loves to fish. And my grandson is Kyler. A blessing! I have been in the child care field since 2008. And worked for Glengarry Child Care off and on since 2008. I believe I was always going to gravitate towards working with children growing up. I enjoyed working with people in general, young and older. As much as my current role is to do with how much I love to work with children, there are other important aspects involved in my career path. It’s not just communicating and play well with the children that is a vital skill but also how I get to communicate with the people that are most important to that child. As a child care educator, I learn skills which enables me to help children develop into happy, healthy little people .This brings me great satisfaction at the end of every day!
